Cheetah Sanctuary: Somerset West

This past Friday VAC had a v”activity” to a Cheetah Sanctuary in Somerset West.  When we arrived we were provided with valuable information about cheetahs.  They discussed with us their living environment(s), age, diet, etc.  If you follow this website you will be able to find out/learn more about cheetahs!  http://www.southafrica.net/za/en/articles/entry/article-southafrica.net-cheetah-outreach-in-somerset-west

All of the VAC student’s were separated into small groups for visiting the cheetah.  The cheetah that we were able to see and pet was 7 years old.  They mentioned that cheetah’s normally live to be 10 to 12 years.  If they are in the wild they normally live up to 6 years old.  It was fascinating because one of the cheetah’s was 12 years old!  I have posted some pictures for your enjoyment!  I’ll warn you…I look very terrified in some of the pictures!  Have fun! 🙂
